March 18, 1982 - Jennifer Mack’s Bogus Plane Ticket is Issued
In an effort to impress Jennifer Mack with his elite hacking skills, David Lightman broke into an airline mainframe and procured her a free ticket to Paris on March 18, 1982, scheduling her to depart from Chicago O’Hare International Airport in August of the following year. He also entered their school’s computer system to change their grades and attendance records.
As the pair continued to navigate the proto-internet by dialing every phone number associated with a computer in Sunnyvale, California, searching for unreleased computer games, David accidentally hacked NORAD and nearly started a nuclear war with Russia.
